1. AUAI and these terms
These terms apply to use of the website and member platform operated by AUSTRALIAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SOCIETY LTD (AUAI), a public company limited by guarantee and a not-for-profit, independent and non-partisan scientific and professional society. Creating an account or continuing to use authenticated features means accepting these terms and the Privacy Policy.
These terms support, but do not replace, AUAI’s Constitution. Members must comply with the Constitution and applicable policies, codes and lawful decisions. If these website terms are inconsistent with the Constitution in a matter of corporate or membership governance, the Constitution prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
2. Responsible use
Users must use AUAI services lawfully, honestly and respectfully. A user must not attempt unauthorised access, disrupt systems, scrape restricted member information, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person, misuse another account or publish material that is unlawful, misleading, harmful or infringes another person’s rights.
AUAI promotes artificial intelligence that is responsible, safe, ethical, transparent, accountable, inclusive and human-centred. Users engaging in AUAI activities or using AUAI resources should act consistently with those principles and any applicable code or policy.
3. Accounts and credentials
Account information must be accurate and kept reasonably current. Users are responsible for safeguarding their sign-in credentials, using a secure password and notifying AUAI promptly of suspected unauthorised access. Accounts are personal unless AUAI expressly establishes an authorised organisational account. Passwords and Google credentials are handled by the authentication provider and are not visible to AUAI administrators.
4. Membership
Online registration is an application for, or record supporting, the relevant membership category; it does not override eligibility, admission, fees, rights or obligations under the Constitution and any membership policies. AUAI may verify information and contact an applicant before confirming membership.
Membership may be suspended, disciplined or terminated only in accordance with the Constitution, applicable policies and procedural fairness. AUAI may temporarily restrict an account where reasonably necessary to protect users, systems or records while a matter is considered.
5. Intellectual property
AUAI owns or controls rights in its name, logo, publications, website content and other intellectual property, except material clearly attributed to another owner. Members and users may use AUAI intellectual property only as authorised by AUAI, the Constitution, an applicable licence or law. Membership does not grant a right to imply AUAI endorsement, use the logo as a trade mark, reproduce publications or create confusingly similar branding.
Limited personal viewing, downloading and printing of publicly available AUAI material is permitted for lawful, non-commercial reference where attribution and notices are preserved. Permission requests should be sent to info@auai.org.au.
6. AI news, videos and third-party material
The AI News area provides headlines, short original summaries, categories, dates, source attribution and links to original articles. Third-party publishers own and control their articles. AUAI does not reproduce full articles, and a summary is not a substitute for the source. Users should follow the original link for context, corrections, licences and publisher terms.
The AI Videos area may link to or embed videos hosted by third-party providers. Those providers control their media, availability and terms. Videos do not auto-play, and inclusion does not grant users rights to reproduce or redistribute them.
Links, summaries and videos are provided for information and discussion. Inclusion does not mean AUAI endorses a publisher, author, claim, product or political position. Automated categorisation or summarisation can be incomplete or mistaken; users should verify important information with the original source.
7. Public website information and separate professional services
Information made publicly available through this website is provided for general informational and educational purposes and does not constitute legal, financial, cybersecurity, regulatory or other professional advice.
Where AUAI separately agrees to provide advisory, technical, research, training, implementation or other professional services to an organisation, those services may be governed by a separate engagement agreement, statement of work, service terms or other applicable contractual documentation.
Viewing website content, sending an enquiry or participating in a preliminary discussion does not create a client, adviser, consultant or other professional relationship. Organisational or professional services require AUAI’s separate agreement and may be subject to project scope, assumptions, responsibilities, fees, confidentiality, data handling, intellectual property and other terms recorded in applicable contractual documentation.
8. Organisational decisions, outcomes and third-party systems
Unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise, AUAI does not guarantee that an assessment, pilot, integration or other service will produce a particular operational, financial, security or performance outcome. Organisations remain responsible for their decisions, approvals, use of outputs, implementation choices, human oversight and operation of their systems.
Third-party platforms, AI models, software, hosting providers, APIs and connectors are controlled by their respective providers and are subject to their own availability, licences, acceptable-use rules, security controls and terms. An integration or continued third-party service cannot be guaranteed. Discussion of a vendor, product or technical option does not imply affiliation, endorsement, certification or partnership.
Where legal, financial, cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory, engineering, medical or other specialist professional advice is required, users and organisations should obtain advice from appropriately qualified professionals.
9. Availability, changes and security
AUAI may maintain, change, suspend or withdraw website features and correct content without notice where reasonably necessary. AUAI will take reasonable security measures but cannot promise uninterrupted, error-free or completely secure access. Users must not rely on the website as the sole copy of important information.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, AUAI is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the website, third-party links or automated summaries. Any liability relating to separately contracted professional services will be addressed by the applicable engagement agreement or other contractual documentation, subject to rights and remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Privacy and policies
Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Project-specific confidentiality, security and data-handling requirements may also be set out in a separate engagement agreement or project documentation. AUAI may establish and update privacy, cybersecurity, data-governance, AI-use, records-management, information-security and other policies consistently with its Constitution. Users must comply with policies that apply to their membership, role or activity.
12. Status and representations
AUAI is described here as a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. Nothing on this website states or implies that AUAI is a registered charity or deductible gift recipient (DGR) unless AUAI separately confirms that status in an express, current notice.
13. Governing law and contact

14. Changes
